Grandparents’ Rights on BBC Radio Berkshire
Back on Radio Berkshire again this morning to talk about the burning issue of Grandparents’ rights after divorce, or separation or simpy the break-up of a relationship. An issue that concerns us all.
There was a lot of coverage of the issue today but some of the headlines got it wrong, in that there are to be no rights for grandparents, but we are to be included in contact proceedings. I was pleased to hear David Norgrove of the Family Justice Panel saying that we must put children first, and consider their rights above all.
But I know too how this issue concerns many of us: there’s nothing worse for a grandparent than being separated from a loved grandchild. And I made the point on Radio Berkshire this morning that we have so much to offer: any child who’s parents are going through a divorce or separation needs as much stability, continuity and love as possible. And as grandparents that is exactly what we can offer.
